I came across this interesting side rebate plane in rosewood at a boot sale recently. It is simple but effective and the maker has taken care to 'overstuff' the edge that is held.

(still waiting for Woodford delivery and emergence of Mr Rattus! :( )

Beautiful Norris,
looks to have hardly been used, bit of blade life, even the tapping screw is still good.....worth a few bob.

I've just bought a lovely little norris 11 small mitre plane, which i plan to make a few when time permits.

you know how to search out a bargain Martin

Nice Norris - will you use it or just hug it from time to time?

The side rebate is very interesting - but it took me a little while to figure out how it worked. Never seen one like that before.

Regards.

Tony, As I said NOT from car boot and NOT a car boot price! Still, the side rebate was only 20p :D

I think that the design of the side rebate has a lot to recommend it.

I was lucky to find (purchase) a similar Norris shoulder plane many years ago, and have used it for about 25 years.

Great plane,

David
