I picked up an B&D petrol strimmer at the weekend, but I can't see a model number on it. The casing is blue, so I'm guessing it's an older model, as their new stuff seems to be green.

Anyone have any experience/knowledge of these, and where the model no. may be found? I need to get a new "trigger" for it, and the cutter..

I'll try to put up some pics, but Photobucket is being a d*ck...

The thing may be completely knackered, but it only cost me a fiver so I'm happy to have a play.

Hi, thanks for the replies. It's got several B&D stickers on there, and a Google image search (B&D 17cc strimmer) brings up old Ebay listings for the same unit.

Thanks for that. Looks like I'm going tohave to look at other makes for bits, so appreciate the tip

I think they all came from the same Far Eastern source. Mine is 12cc, too small, branded "Paice Setter", is an absolute pig to start, and has many of the same fittings as that one, including the driveshaft/clutch casting, the grab handle and the trigger too. They can't be too uncommon, and I'll bet that the strimmer reel system for one fits all the rest.

Crankcase compression 2-stroke, so won't be happy starting if there's a crack at the back somewhere, and the little ones are really sensitive to exhaust back pressure (as I said, yours is 5cc bigger so hopefullly not quite as picky as mine!).
