Only a few weeks ago my lad was showing me up in the workshop with his table, well he's doing it again.

Had a weekend away in North Norfolk with family and at the site where we were staying is a nice fishing lake and as James is getting into his fishing asked if we could take our rods.

Ok set the scene, arrived at lake edge, helped James set up his rod, he puts a couple of maggots on and casts it out - before I had even had a chance to start setting up my own rod I hear those immortal words

"Dad I've got one"

In my fatherly tone said "well done lad, you know how to bring it in"

I turned round to see James nearly getting pulled in and ten minutes later he stood on the bank holding this:-

We didn't have a scale with to measure it accurately but i'm sure it was well over 10lbs Getting a double figure carp a month before his tenth birthday - Jammy little bugger!!!

Now that is a moment that your lad will treasure for the rest of his life. Top marks to you both. :)

Nice fish = one pleased young angler!

On a 'scale' of 1 to 10....
10*

'Scale'! Hat. coat >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tight lines Dodge!

Haha I did something very similar on a days fishing trip with my dad when I was 12. First cast with 5 feathers on the line I caught 5 mackerel. Then the next cast I caught another 5 mackerel, then another 4, then another 4, then 3 gurnards. Dad caught 1! The rest of the day I caught a couple of dogfish, 3 rays, some more mackerel then a crab.

That was a good trip, apart from getting a big hook through my hand!

Did you keep the fish or throw it back?

Mark

very well done young man :D

Many more where that came from should you finish up with the carp fishing bug

Good Job.

I remember for my 10th b'day I got Fly fishing leasons, still rates as my #1 b'day present.

I haven't been fishing since I moved to England, now I've seen that fish I really want to pull a sicky and spend the day with a rod.

+1 vote for that idea

Don't tempt me. I have enough on my plate as it is!
My Terry Eustace rods are in storage. (Although 'fibre-glass' is now past it is it not?

My advise would be not to take the little blighter again!
