leave in bigger lengths imo
although if stored well i get hardly any end grain cracking.

another trick is if you cut a log thinking its good and it turns out its not yet :roll: rough turn it and stick it in a black bag with some shavings and a bit of plant food or natraul yougurt - place the bag in a half sunny poaotion and in a few weeks you should have iomproved the results :D
