Reminds me of our current house. Old lime plaster most of which came away in great chunks, still with the pattern of the bricks on the back. But some of it stuck like the proverbial s**t to a blanket, and always in the most awkward to get to places. Awful job.My biggest hand pain like that it hitting the knuckles in the hand
Used to have to hack off old plaster of walls so we could re plaster. Oh year this in the days before cordless hammer drills and the corded mains version were not mush smaller that the ones they used to dig up roads
So it was lump hammer and chisel/bolster, scarf hammer. Blood(lots) sweat, tears...
Ok some days were bliss the plaster was soft and just fell away
Other times it was hard as iron and would not budge and you would spend all day just trying to remove old plaster/sand and cement
