These are both fantastic.

Tam - yours has been turning off-centre and looks a bit more complex. May I ask how you attached it ? Did you do the top first, make a ridge inside and then re-chuck it and do the bottom?

I have a similar dilemma with the garden - wondering how I'm going to find the time for my turning in a week or two.

Hi LW, screw chuck into where the bowl will be. Turn the wings complete top and bottom, shape a holding spigot, and turn as much of the lower bowl as you can. Certainly to the finished width at the wing root. Sand wings using a pad in drill with lathe stationary.

Reverse and fit spigot into chuck, turn out the bowl edge and inner. Sand inner bowl. Remove from chuck, I fitted a wood blank to chuck turned down to take the bowl on a push fit. Bring up tail stock, finish base of bowl, sand all, and oil.

PHEW!!!! Feels like I just made another one!

Good luck!

Thanks Tam. Sorry you had already posted most of the info while I was busy asking the question.

Makes me think nothing's impossible.
