OEM and Windows 7pro advice sought please

My PC builder has left the district.

If I stick my OEM W7 pro disk in to do a crash and a new set up will it work, or will I need
a builders password because it is OEM?

I have used OEM software before with only the Key.

An OEM copy of Windows is tied to the system it was purchased with so as long as you are reinstalling on the original machine then you will be fine. If you install onto a separate machine you are in breach of the licencing and the software may not activate.

The OEM software activation is tied to the motherboard so as long as that is the same it will activate just fine using the automatic activation system. If you have upgraded the motherboard you may have to call Microsoft activation team.
