Last week on the New Yankee Workshop Online, Norm built a bedside table. This is a small version of a dressing table that I want to make later in the year. Has anybody downloaded the video? And if so, would it be possible for me to get a copy, please?

Thank you

Bob

Bob,
I was able to download the first couple of videos with the download helper in Firefox, but after those first two the downloader didn't work with the NYW website...I don't know if they have somehow blocked downloading or if it is something I've done. I had hoped to grab the whole series  Sorry, I've not been any help at all, have I. I hope someone else can help out.

I'm not sure of you really want to see that video... Some of the techniques Norm used back then were terrifying, by today's standards!

If I remember rightly, he didn't allow the top (which was one, wide pine board) to expand/contract properly either. There are loads of other plans for this sort of thing available online. Probably a few other videos, too (though, I don't think The Wood Whisperer has filmed one?).

If you download the basic, free Realplayer 10, it will allow you to download any of the YouTube videos.

(I believe YouTube are trying to get facility for longer videos btw.)

One thing that strikes me, from watching Norm (I never saw the series as I never had Sky) is that for all the machines he uses, it proves that he knows how to use them.

He's not bad with handtools too!

So it isn't what you have, it's how you use it then?

Now that is strange George I had exactly the same problem with the site. First couple I could download with Download helper but then it wouldn't work. I too assumed it had been blocked somehow. Problem is I can't watch it online as it keeps stopping all the time and is very annoying so I haven't watched any more which is a pity as I was looking forward to them.

I had a look at the HTML when I noticed that the download helper stopped working. It would appear they have started using a flash player that doesn't require the URL to a video file. I did discover that it's fairly easy to play it full screen though just go to this URL: http://www.newyankee.com/flash/mwplayer.swf
