Steve: thanks for the welcome :D

Nigel: thanks for the mention

Good to see a few new (to me) faces and some old ones... nothing personal DaveL  btw which wood for the pull? (memory failure  )

Charlie... may I take a copy of relevant pix for me archives please?

OK so I am trying out Flickr, it seems to work most of the time.

I have not managed to upload all of the pictures yet, take a look here to see what I have done so far.

Graham,

Spalted beech was the timber, you have to offcuts from making a coat rack and I want the light pull to match.

Can someone put some names to the faces please, I note that quite a few have not made it to the Gallery yet..

names against picture no. (right click pic.) would be a big help.

e-mail to:
[email protected]
to keep the thread count down if you prefer.

Steve,

Many Many thanks for organising the Bash.
We all appreciate the hard work you went to.
I had a great time.

"P.s. did I have to be in so many of photos, I hadn't done my hair"

Pete,

Was that what was in the bag under your table?

Looks like a missed a good day!
I spent it catching up on some reading waiting for something, anything to go wrong at work to justify not being there.
Cheers
Steve

One of the most outstanding things to be seen at the bash were Pete Maddox's lovely planes.
He's good!

Superb work Pete, and a pleasure to talk planes with you

OK - still trundling around Uk but able to post tonight.

1) A very big thank you to Steve, SWIMBO, and neighbours for putting on an excellant show. Some really fantastic tools & work on display and the turning demo by Grahan a great help to beginner like me. Nice to put names to faces also.

2) Vigorating chat during and after (At Steve's place) I think the Black Country discussion was just about to get really interesting but providence intervened in the form of some sumptious 'nosh' courtesy of Mrs. M who should be proud of dishes she served up.

3) 800 odd miles is not too far to travel for such a get together :) and Alf be aware, be very aware that there were plans being laid to invade your place in Devon next year if you keep saying it's too far to come

4) I think I can do digi type photos now (Allbeit one at a time  ) so to satisfy those who've asked I'll try to post onto the rogues gallery when I get home.

Thanks once again Steve for a great 2nd. UKW 'Big Bash' and good luck to Dave L for his 3rd. offering in September (Which I can't do unfortunately) I'm talking 'Big Bash' here, not 'Mini Bash' as done the previous week by Graham & Co.

If any one is interested in some more Black Country

just ask if you require any thing translated and I will try my best but can't promise

Anyway where is the video Steve

Andy

ps glad everyone got home safely

Thanks Steve. =D>

I had a great day,it was brilliant to be warmly welcomed and to have chats with like minded people. The plane enthusiasm, excuse the pun, seems to have worn off on me too as today's work was strictly hand tools only.
And,and I bagged a bargain huge 16"Bench Vice, chisel, malet and a old Wood German Shoulder Plane thank you Pete.

Thanks again

Alex

Right let's get a few friendly things straight. Judith is laughing her socks of here.
1. The nosh was provided by everyone, I managed to sub-con 95% of it!
2. J did a splendid job, along with the other J (please pass on thanks, Keith), and Mad Mary. our beloved next-door-neighbour, but the Grilling of the Sausages is the most cooking she's done since Christmas! I do 99% of the cooking in our house, J goes out to work and earns the money, I go to Sainsbury's and spend it, cook it and, as my waistline will testfy, eat it (and drink it). We have a saying here that I cook and Judith defrosts.
3 If it comes to Sunday lunch, that's where she beats me hands down, I have to consult Delia and prepare a spreadsheet for timings.

I'm really glad that we all had a good time, and thank you for the kind regards, I hope I see you all again. Judith is just glad it's over.

Cheers
Steve

Aw now come on Steve! I actually witnessed Judith preparing some culinary delight before my very eyes as I was at your home with a cup of coffee with Judith in the kitchen. She did a wonderful job. I should add that she did admit that you do most of the cooking though.

I have got all of the pictures up now, here if I have your name wrong send me a PM and I will correct it.
If anyone wants to download the pictures I don't have a problem with that.

Great pictures Dave... I've seemed to miss quite a few things in my snaps, I must take more photos next time..

Pete

Me thinks the man is to modest.

Regardless of the functional perfection, it is decades since I had the personal patience to apply such superb hand finishing to an article.

Looks as though it was a great event, if it was not for my bloody back I would have been their.
