Norton 3X

I bought Norton 3X from Lee Valley whilst i was in Canada. It is excellent but I cannot seem to find a supplier here in the UK. Any ideas?

Try Classic Hand Tools, that's where I got mine from, they're not listed on their website, but they do stock them.

Truly amazing grinding wheels aren't they.

Sorry Pete, I just assumed you meant the grinding wheels - didn't check the link. I suppose that's about what you can expect on a Friday night after a couple of Stellas :roll:

It also seems that Classic Hand Tools do list the wheels on their site now - they didn't a few months ago - Honest guv.

If you haven't tried that wheels already, you really should, they've completely changed the way I look after my edges, and I don't think I'll be changing back anytime soon.

You know I wished I used my planes more but I seem to be building machines to do most of that grunt work I used to do. Have nearly completed a limited pin router for my electric ukulele cavity body routing.

IIRC B&Q sell it - it may be branded something else but says Norton 3x if you like closely - can't quite recall.

It's not the same stuff. This is specialist paper made in Canada... I checked the Rutlands site and couldn't find it. I'll try again.

I use abralon for afinishing with lacquer. I'm going to get in touch with Mirka for some paper samples - this Norton 3X is hard to beat and I've tried most of them out there. It seems to cut forever...

I've just looked on the Rutlands site and can't see it there either - therefore, I think Tony may've been referring to the Blue Ceramic Grinding Wheels, which have appeared on the forums under the "Norton 3X" heading before.
