I'm currently doing a bespoke interior for a VW Camper, using birds eye maple (veneer). The client wants the finish to be a high gloss affair, but the colour to remain as close to the unfinished colour as possible. He (the client) is an accomplished vehicle finisher, and has suggested using lacquer. What should he (or I) use to achieve this result?
Many thanks for your time.
Adam.

From other debates we've had on similar topics then I think a waterborne spray lacquer should do, General Finishes have some that should do.

I've used a brush on acrylic varnish that didn't alter the colour of maple very much, but I'm guessing you'll want to spray

Waterbourne lacquer will keep the maple lighter than a pre cat or acid cat lacquer but there is little that can be done to stop the timber yellowing with exposure to light which will cause the maple to go yelllow in time.

I can't find that other thread but yetloh suggested rubbing sun tan lotion into the wood.

Thanks Ironballs.
Been anywhere exciting on the bike recently?
Adam.

Over the handlebars again this morning. Marsden Moor this time. I've now got grazes on top of my bruises

It's on Page 2 Keeping Maple White by BillW - tricky one to find Tom

Chicks may dig scars, but they also laugh at you when you hobble down the stairs cause your bruises hurt :)

Five quid says I wake up in pain at some point during the night when a weeping graze has stuck to a sheet
