Just finished making my toddler son a bookcase.

P1040339.jpg

made from pine. Finished with wax. Slots routed into the fronts of the shelves so that he can slide the little vehicles to and fro.
Vehicles are from a child's jigsaw.

Si.

That is very nice!

Nicely executed and very creative with the little vehicles.

That's very nice. My missus has been asking for something like this for a while.

She has very immature tastes :)

Thats a lovely piece what sort of pine did you use.

nicely done. is the whole thing secured to the wall?

No, but there's a 15 degree chamfer on the bottom of the legs, so it's quite stable.
It's just cheapy PSE pine. All edges rounded over on the router table.

Peppa goes swimming, now there's a classic read, according to my 3 year old.

What is it with that book?? We have loads of them and it gets read 5 times for each go with any other Peppa book.

Are we (grown-ups) missing something - is this a subliminal attempt to radicalise our children??? Arrgghhhhhh!

Whats the plot like? I'll only buy it if George says "Dinosoar" and does his projectile crying trick

Nice little project too!

Ah yes. Peppa is a favourite in this house too. My latest project:

Very nice work.

Peppa and George are two favourites in our house as well.

I must have about forty episodes on my SKY planner.

Still haven't asked my four and six year old what they like.

Yes Tom, with my own hand (on the mouse) ;)

So will the new toy be just for fun or are you planning to make a business/sideline out of it?

A Bit of both Tom. I bought it purely because it was very cheap, with a view that if it didn't turn out to be what I wanted, I could move it on with no loss. I'm still learning how to use it and I think I have a long way to go before I'm confident with it. I never got into woodworking to do this sort of stuff. But if I want to keep woodworking then this might help keep my hand in. As far as selling stuff goes, well I haven't begun to work out how to cost things, but it could be a goer. It's finding the niche. If you look at what the Americans are doing with this machine, you'll want to physically hurl! That sort of stuff won't fly over here IMO. I'll always look at it as a toy, if it earns it's keep then that's a bonus.

Dragging this thread off topic, sorry knappers

Which one?

You could say I'm into CNC myself - I work for Hardinge / Bridgeport.

Here something a colleague made on one of our 5 axis mills yesterday.. not got one at home though, unfortunately..
