Some photos as threatened, showing some of my earlier efforts, the first was turned with a sharpened screwdriver while I waited for my chisels to arrive. My last finished piece was made for my brother-in-law and is now in Cornwall so no pics, but I think it shows a little improvement. I will post some pics of my latest effort when finished, hopefully at the weekend. Not necessarily better but more ambitious.
The heart shaped box was made mostly on the bandsaw and by hand. It's the one I'm most pleased with so far.

Noooooo round things on the flat side!

Only kidding.

That heart box is stunning, very beautiful, the lines all look so pleasing and smooth.

Yes, I particularly like the heart-box, where the use of contrasting timbers works very well (I'm not much of a 'turner, yet). Very well done. :)

Thanks for your comments.
After seeing these in the harsh light of a flash I very nearly removed them, the turned peices look awful, but as I said they are on the learning curve and I have done better since.
I'll post my latest one when finished, but I'll try to post it in the right place. Sorry about that.

Nowt wrong with them! :D I love the heart box. Very nice.

I know where you're coming from with your negative comments about your own work. When I make stuff, I normally focus on all the tiny defects that crop up during the making process. When the thing's finished, these defects are all I can see. The people you show your stuff to generally look at the peice as a whole, so don't normally notice the defects.

I made a bookcase for my boss a while ago. He was really pleased with it yet I still insisted on pointing out that one of the selves was 3mm higher at one end! To me, it was a massive error.

Keep up the good work!
