I do like the Sjoberg benches. I recently received one of their catalogues and am sorely tempted.

I do like the Elite series, 'cause they're heavy and well made. Can't say anything 'bout the other types of current workbenches;but i do own an older,lighter workbench and it can't be used for planing without weighting down or fixing it to the floor. I don't think i'd spring the money for any other of their workbenches.. Have you considered Ulmia?

I've got one of the more entry level models - I think it's a decent workbench (but I don't have a point of reference, it being my first and only bench thus far) and I was happy with the purchase. It can move a bit but overall I'm happy with it.
