As if it wasn't crowded enough in there already!

Cheers

its a tumble drier i think - theres one in my shop too - they have the dual advantage of heating the shop, and giving you the perfect excuse to "pop" out there in the evening... "just waiting for this load to finish darling"

only downside is the moisture issue - but ours is a condenser so its not a big deal

Yes, tumble drier. No room for it anywhere else in the house.

I'm not sure how much of an issue moisture will be - it vents directly outside, so I don't think there'll be a problem. If there is, it's gonna get moved into the shed

I know how to get it out as fast as it went in

ONE BIG hand full of sawdust and shavings in with the next drier load

Then let the other half take out the clothes

And when all hell lets loose , just say

" looks like its sucked in some dust from the workshop "

Shame that , looks like we will have to move it

Only "white goods" in my workshop is a microwave oven (for dring wood) and even that is dark green and was found in a friends garage just after they moved in (left behind by the previous occupants) - depsite being rather dusty and cobwebby, when cleaned up it works just fine :)

Washing either gets hung out on the line to dry or (more often as we are in Wales) hung up in the rather large & warm airing cupboard upstairs (and there is still room for the rough turnings also drying in there). Both methods cost nothing, use no additional energy, and take up no room at all in my wokshop

IB - too right. The conversation went along these lines

Wifey - "that dryer is too fugly to go in the kitchen - it'll have to go in the garage"

Me - "No room in my workshop love"

Wifey - "it's not a workshop. It's a garage. If you want a workshop go and rent one"

Kym - if you saw how much washing our family generates, you'd understand that trying to dry it without mechanical means (as we've been trying to do for the last few years) is nigh on impossible. 4 young kids create a lot of mess!

Cheers

Ah, four young children. Now I understand the necessity of the tumble drier (although not the necessity of it living in your workshop.... )

Well, taking the principle of every cloud having a silver lining....

Whilst having a sort out of the 'shop today I took full advantage of the Space Invader

Always wanted a sharpening station :D

Just fixed a chunky batten to the wall behind the dryer and used an offcut of oak worktop (screwing it to the batten to avoid slippage).

But Karl, your tumble dryer seems to be re-producing  - there seems to be another (tall) one alongside it now

It's not a garage, it's not a workshop - it must be a " white goods working area" - washing machine and dish washer will fit under your bench

Karl, I see from other posts you have just rented a nice new space quite recently. However looking at this post, it seems you were given permission ages ago and missed it ;-)

Put your foot down. I did.
Nothing in my 'garage' now but woodworking stuff.
Mind you SWIMBO won't have a tumble-dryer or a dishwasher in the house!
But I have an almost empty utility room, where my lathe is going to go, once I get rid of some old lawn furniture!

I think Karl now has enough space to set up a launderette without noticing... I was just pointing out that he was given permission years ago, and may not have noticed!
