Being stuck in the sticks with no piped gas makes you consider other options. We have very cold winters here and spend more on diesel to run the boiler than we do the cars. Last year we spent just over 3000 Euros keeping the house warm and if we were to use electricity it would be even more. Yep, looking into the idea of upgrading to a boiler that runs on pellets that can switch back to fuel if we run out.outcycling":3l5jzv50 said:Hey Russ, is it financially worth the hassle to get shavings converted into pellets ?
I have found a company that will turn my shavings into pellets, for every 1 m3 of shavings I drop off the will give me the equivalent of 1/2 m3 back. Not a bad deal in my books! I can also buy oak shavings at 4 euros per m3 from my sawmill. It all makes sense.
