Hi there y'all
New member so i thought id introduce myself here .Wasnt sure if theres a specific thread sticky'd for it and the main woody section inappropriate.
Well , thats the hope ive not offended anyone post out of the way
Names Triton. Not imaginative i know but ive a penchant for Triton kit . (not my real name  )
Background:
After many years in my original trade i decided it was going nowhere and maybe time to take a proper look at something i usually found myself doing in my spare time which was designing and making things.
A 4 year stint in college doing a little group of qualifications up to HND(UK) and a couple of HNC's. Being in my 30's at that time i needed i felt a little more grounding in the subject.
After that i worked for about 4 years or 5 :? in a pro workshop turning out a mix of Arts and Crafts for the owner/designer, a bit of Deco(my own favourite style) and modern if indeed contemporary is modern and not just copies from the 60's or 70's OH-OH  a bit controversial there. fuel for the future me thinks
Im out on my own now but not really working towards anything . Perhaps not set for the full self employment, a couple of years down, maybe 20
Im also working out of the spare bedroom. Its an OK size wise @ 11 1/2'x 9 1/2' but beggars cant be choosers so it will have to do wont it
Given im short on space im using my Triton kit and swopping stuff about a bit but although im still ok for room i do need to buy a small planer thicknesser and its this subject that has brought me out of my lurking to join fully and ask you all for some advice in this subject.
Power supply is going to be an issue and a 16amp is out so something along the lines of the Axminster AW 106 PT2 would be ideal except for the fact it is too big.
I know this could be a lot to ask a smaller machine to get the results in hardwood, especially as im looking for something smaller than the axminster, and i dont have any experience in small machinery so may not know about a myriad(i hope  ) of small cast iron construction planer thicknessers that dont cost the earth or need a reinforced flood to stand it on.
So hello and who knows what ?
