Hi to all.I have found this site today,I have been very keen on fret sawing for over 40 years.Quite a long time ago I made a toy fort for my son from a magazine called HOBBIES WEEKLY.I did so using a hand fret saw.Twenty two years ago on the 16th of January 1995 using the same pattern from HOBBIES finished a new fort for my grandson Adam.I was able to stack cut some of the parts that were the same,as you can appreciate I have learnt a lot since the early years.
The tip that I picked up and found out that I use all the time is after you have fixed your pattern the your piece of wood, you wrap the whole lot with clear adhesive tape. This allows the work to move freely on the scroll saw table. The best double sided tape I have found,is around 2 inches wide from Wilkinsons.

Welcome Bryan.
I was looking at some old Hobbies weekly a couple of months ago, think they were about 1946 ish, but that's a guesstimate.
I also recently renovated a homemade fort for resale at a local charity where I help out part time. Someones child now has it and I hope enjoys it as much as I did fixing it.

All the best for 2013 Bryan. Lots of info & advice here, I've been helped quite a bit.

Thank you Hutzul for your welcome, hopefully I shall be able to help some of the younger scroll saw users with some hints etc that I have picked up over the years.

Welcome Bryan , what a lovely thing to be able to make something for your son and also for your grandson. =D> .When I read the heading of your post I assumed you were a beginner like myself and would be able to offer some beginners advice  .But now I have somebody else to garner help from.

I hope when you said you wanted to help the younger scrollers with some hints you won't mind passing some of your hard but lovingly gained expertise with an Auld beginner like me.

Again Welcome Bryan, Happy New Year to you and yours.

Thank you boysie39 for your welcome and kind remarks,If I can find a photograph of the fort I will post it on the forum.
If anyone would like the pattern for the fort I will try and find it,when laid out it is about 3feet square and the walls keep turrets all go into the central keep which measures around 16in by 14in and has a plywood bottom.
