Hi fellow woodworkers,

I have been lurking in the forum for quite a while. The wife and myself
live south of San Francisco. My woodworking interests are the lathe and doing intarsia. My family, mother and father left England in 1910 and 1915 when they were children. They met in San Francisco and got married. The LOML have been married 41 years. We have two grown children. We currently have three grandsons ages 3,2, and 7, with another one coming in September.
I have enjoyed reading all the posts in this forum.

Best regards
John G.

Welcome to the forum John, Lathework and intarsia eh!
It would be nice to see some of you work, we are always looking for inspiration with what to tackle next, and ideas from across the pond often lead us into new avenues.

Gill, Lin, did you notice that word INTARSIA

Welcome
Welcome
Welcome

:D

Come into this intarsia-starved wilderness, John, and spread the gospel. I'm on the verge of attempting some intarsia myself for the first time - if I can pick up enough courage (and white wood  ).

Did I ever!

Welcome, WD. Good to have you on board although I admit that I had to look up Wikipedia for Intarsia

I have very fond memories of SF having worked for an Alameida based company for several years.

Thanks for the welcome.

Gill.. you mentioned that you would like to try intarsia if you build up the courage. I have been doing it for about 5 years now. I started out with small projects 25 pieces etc etc and worked my way up to larger plans.

i am curently working on one made by Judy Gale Roberts it approx 800+ pieces. It has african animals in the plan (25) i have five the animals done 20 to go. The only bad part is that where i live wood is expenseive.

I do a lot of dumpster diving around contruction and demolition work and get my wood supply free.

best regards
John G.
