The price is quite incredible and it looks to be of a similar build quality to the Axminster TS200 table saw, which is very popular on this forum.

The only review I've seen of this is the one on the Rutlands site, from one of their customers. He bought the SIP version for double the price and seems happy enough to give it five out of five.

Looks like you get a good deal on the Trend cutter block at the same time.

If only I had the space, I reckon it'd be worth a punt...

So what's it like Paul, or do you mean you have just ordered one? I have a customer who is looking for a small spindle, his broke down rather badly the other week and he has been over to borrow mine. If it is any good he'd like to know I'm sure, and I might buy one as an extra set up!!

Ordered one yesterday, I will keep you informed.

Thanks, if it is any good it looks a great price. Going to ring the guy today and let him have a look, they may sell out fast! What was the carriage charge like?

£19.95 to normal destinations

Couldn't help but notice it is only 1500W, would this make a difference as all of the others have more powerful motors? :?

What ones are looking at ? The Charnwood one is 1500W

I still think £299 is a blinding deal

I agree it seems a fantastic deal to me too. I was looking at the Scheppach ones which have a more powerful motor. Didn't know if this was much of an advantage on a spindle moulder? :? Just wondering if I could make room in my workshop for one.

You've got to be careful with these types of things because some companies and manufacturers quote the motor output instead of the input (or vice-versa...?) because is looks more powerful in the list of specifications. :?

Might seem like a stupid question but........what does a spindle moulder give me over a triton mounted in a router table?

Serious question, I have no experience with spindle moulders.

Cheers

Mark

Just think of it as a grown up router table, it does the same thing and much much more.
The one you've seen on Rutlands website will do anything a router table can do, but with a big difference, instead of taking endless passes to make mouldings etc you can do it in one hit.

The Trend cutter block on offer on the same page is also good value for the money, Trend like Frued make OK ish tooling and would be a good starting point for the machine you mention.

You couldn't buy or make a decent router table for that kind of money imho. If I was looking to make or buy a router table I wouldn't bother I'd just get one. I suspect at that price point it would need a bit of tweaking here & there but that goes for any woodworking machine to get the best out of them.

Looking at some of the items you've made Mailee you'll wonder how you ever managed without one in no time at all.

2hp isn't that bad it'll easily make decent size mouldings, rail & style for kitchen doors etc and fielded panels etc etc, far better than any router table imho.

I want one, nope, I need one...

I've got 14 raised panel doors to make...surely that makes it a worthwhile buy? And im sure there must be some space somewhere in the shop...

Now I know how the wife feels about shoes ](*,)

I think 'normal' price was £399...

The Omas cabinet door making set ( if it was cabinet doors you need to make ) is £425 .00 or £670.00 for the one with extra profiles . They wont be any use in this machine as max block dia inc cutters is 144mm . The omas set is 160mm dia .
Rutlands do a cabinet door making set for £90 for the router .
If it's full size doors you may get away with it on a 55mm block and off the peg cutters but i checked today and that was around 140mm dia so its taking it to its max .

I have 2 charnwood ones, Permanently set up for 2 types of rail and style doors, They are cheap but they do the job, I paid £599 when they were first out early this year, Metabo had one roughly the same size which was double the price.
In my local machinery shop today I was telling them about the fox ones which look exactly the same, they told me Charnwood is phasing out this model and bringing one out that takes router bits!?
£299 is a bargain, I would rather save my money and buy better quality after having used them. As a Diy or hobby tool get em while theyre in stock!.
(quick edit) Agree with JFC, A whitehill block and cutters doesnt fit inside the not so symetrically cast cover, But will accomdate quite a few profiles on a 100mm cutterblock.
