Just got my new bandsaw today from Boggle and Timms in Manchester. Bought the BS300 with Wheel kit. Collected it in my Estate car and took it to the workshop. Carefully unpacked all the pieces and layed them out on the bench to check contents.

First of all the wheel kit is not in the box.
Second the power cable is damaged.
Third the supplied mitre gauge does not fit the t slots (its too big)
Fourth the screw that is used to align the bed halves can't be fitted as the hole is not machined all the way through the bed.

Too late to call the shop now.
You can see the pictures on my blog

Very disappointed. When (if) its all fixed it looks like it will be up to the job. Anyone else had issues with this dealer or brand before?

Cheers
Lee.

That's bad luck - but if you search you'll find that you're not the only one having problems with Record kit - especially their bandsaws. Although you seem to have some serious ones - I wouldn't be at all happy with the cable being in such a state. As you bought locally you may be able to do a straight swap?
I had problems with my Record BS350 - but when all sorted it's pretty good value - I think once you're all sorted you'll be happy with your purchase too ... You can talk to Record direct - they are fairly helpful and will sort you out if you choose to keep the machine.

Hi,

I have the same unit, my wheelkit came in a separate box from the saw unit. The mitre gauge is and entirely different one to mine - it's green like the unit body and uses a flat bar with a flat roller on the end that fits the undercut part of the slot.

I did have a problem with the spring that holds the wheels in the down position and Record sent a complete new kit. The few times I've had contact with Record, they have been very good.

Hope your supplier takes responsibility.

Regards,

Colin

Too big?! Gosh, talk about bucking the trend.

Sorry to hear that, Lee, and I hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction. Although if you buy Record and you takes your chances like any other gambler.

Cheers, Alf

Sorry to hear about that you're having the usual problems with the Record bandsaw.

Will you please reduce the size of your image? At 1024 x 768 it is huge.

Sorry Neil,

I have the images on the blogg anyway.
My resolution is 1600 wide so it looks diddy on my screen.

With my BS350 the wheel kit was in a seperate box. Your fourth point about that screw, IMHO I don't believe it is to align anything it's just a safety issue, a cap bolt is placed in the hole to stop any broken blade flying about, the bolt is simply held in using a plastic butterfly nut and a small distance piece that should be in the kit.

I know how dissapointed you feel, I had an issue with no holes in the base for the wheel axle. :(

Personally I think most images shown here are too small. 1024 is definitely not big, stick with them!!

Not that this will help you much but I ordered a mitre guage from Rutlands a while ago and when it arrived it was to small for the slot
Bit of modifying and I had it fixed in a jiffy. I think I would take the whole lot back and ask for a replacement...

There are still a lot of users here who are using dial-up, the extended download times for them are prohibitive.

All we ask is that if you have a large image, just post a thumbnail or a link to the image.

Bit of an update today.

I went back to the dealer the next morning and they could not have been more helpful.

We agreed that if they supplied new parts I would be ok installing them. I did not want to strip down the saw again and try to return it to them.
So they ordered me a new Rip fence and table, new Mitre gauge and a wheel kit. I had to replace the mains cable myself but this was easier than moving the saw.

By way of an apology they also gave me.
2 x Bessey Clamps
1 x B&D Dust Buster
3x different Blades for the Bandsaw.

..and they said I could have the EB Planer Thicknesser (HC260) that I had been eying up in the shop for £500 delivered. Which I think is a good deal.

The new parts for the Bandsaw were delivered today by their own van and fitted perfectly. I tried a few test cuts and it looks like it will be a good piece of kit.

I am not rreallyin a position to buy the planer, although I suspect I should not pass up on the offer.

Cheers
Lee.
