Just arrived today, bit surprised as I had been told by T.L-N that there were none in the country.

Looks promising....

oooooooooohhh......

aaaaaaahhhh.....

mmmmmm......

(here endeth the gloat)

Yet to take it for a spin.

Does any one have any suggestions for honing and polishing the bevel, given the awkward shape of the blade? I've a feeling I'll probably end up doing it freehand over the edge of the bench, or with some sort of home made jig.

Not really sure how I could grind the bevel either, probably have to attack the side of my wet stone grinder. Suggestions?

I sharpened mine by hand. I polished the "sole of the foot" on an 8000 grit waterstone and then turned my 8000 waterstone on the side and freehand honed a small secondary bevel on top of the blade using the edge of the stone. The O1 blade is very quick to sharpen compared to Lie-Nielsen's usual A2 blades.

Good if they have used O1 - I prefer this as its so quick to sharpen even though the edge might not last as long.
