Is it to replace one that is now u/s? A 'not too pricey' motor will be made to metric dimensions. If you have an original pulley, it will likely have an imperial bore. Modifying the bore of a pulley that drives the lathe requires a second lathe.
 
Anyone recommend a motor for a Myford Super 7 not too pricey.
Depends on what you call pricy and balance the price against how much you use the lathe and of course how much you can afford to spend.
There is a used one here where the owner has upgraded to a VFD Drive Model Engineer. Worth a look !
I have used a Clarke motor on a Meddings pillar drill and it works fine, they are not expensive but as
Chailett points out you will need to adapt the mounting plate.
If yo can afford it I would go for a VFD package from one of the several vendors in the U.K., I have one fitted and it’s a very worthwhile upgrade
