You know something thats weird ?

We all moan about the price of a litre of petrol, yes ?
At this point in time, somewhere around say... £1.16 / litre ....

And yet,, I bought a a Litre of BOTTLED WATER today.... and it was more than a tad more expensive than £ 1.16

I'm guessing its considerably more difficult to produce a litre of Unleaded fuel than it is to produce a litre of water, and therefore more costly.

Maybe we should be glad we dont run our cars on Bottles of Volvic or Evian

I hadn't thought of it like that before... and for sure, I get hacked off at the price of fuel... but it made me think about how much we get 'stung' in every area of life. :D

65% of the fuel cost goes straight to the HM Treasury's coffers... which does seem a bit obscene...

How can anyone justify the price of the water though ?

Can't make up my mind about the price of fuel! We have got to stop burning oil to have an impact on global warming. It seems that high oil prices may be to only way to do this (ducks top avoid brickbats), as just telling people to turn their heating down is not working.

According to the last figures I read transport in the UK accounts for only some 20% of CO2 emissions. Of that a considerable percentage is produced by 'food miles'.
The target is for 5% of transport fuels to be bio fuels. The argument being that this would reduce our CO2 emissions from transport my that amount.
That being the case, if government were to break an ingrained habit and be honest, they would reduce fuel taxation by that percentage as the newest taxation additions were part of their 'green' agenda.
Burning bio fuels does not reduce the amount of CO2 produced by combustion. The argument is that the CO2 thus produced is re-absorbed next season by the growth of another crop.
Bull!
If you grow an edible crop and use it to provide fuel then that crop is not available to be eaten. If it is eaten the CO2 subsequently produced is ALSO re-absorbed by next years crop!
China has just passed the USA in CO2 emissions due to a massive increase in cement and concrete production, one of the single largest causes of CO2 pollution.
