Health to enjoy.

I'll be very interested in hearing what you think of it because my mate and I compared it to my Jet 1442 and decided the Axminster was a better machine for the money.

I looked at the jet 1442 ( I like the swivelling head) but chose the axminster on the basis that it has 2HP rather than one , and electronic variable speed. ( my axminster M900 has the same speed control as the jet and it gets gummed up with dust on a fairly regular basis).

I had thought about getting the record maxi ( the one thats a hybrid with a woodfast) or maybe a LRE graduate but swimbo and I eventually decided that these were too expensive and compromised on the axminster ;)

And re the honeymoon thing , we had a week in devon and a week in cornwall , so it made sense to drop in at axminster on the way back to wiltshire. Actually it was sarah who suggested it (probably sick of hearing me weigh up all the pros and cons and trying to justify buying a VB36 :D)

Looks good Pete. That speed control on the Jet\Axi is rather annoying. Click Back, Push Forward but only when the lathe is running. Quite interesting when you've just mounted something that's large and unbalanced and realised you're on the top speed

oh yeah - mine (on the M900) has been stuck on 1500rpm for about a month which isnt ideal - I disembled the headstock and unstuck it last weekend. But i decided at an early stage that electronic variable speed was going to be a must for my new lathe.

key now is tidying up the 'shop and moving all the wood about so that i can get two pallets worth of lathe in when its delivered tommorow.

Looks like a nice machine BSM,

Some large bowl's and platters coming our way soon ?

more than likely - first job is to make the platter which is going to be the overall trophy for our turning comp.
