Anyone have a record BS300E BandSaw ? - I'm upgrading for xmas from my small draper, and am looking at the RP BS300E

I see though quoted ( Sharing many of the same basic construction and capacities of the BS300X but with a few non-essential features replaced with simpler systems, )

Anyone any ideas what exactly is different in the E than the X model ?

Cheers

Hi Loz,

Just flicking through/round a few sites which i Googled, the only obvious things i can see are a 1hp motor instead of 3/4hp.... and a fancy wheely thing to move it round the workshop with.

Apart from the fact it's green, it's looks near as spit the same as my E/Bekum (blue) i bagged from ebay..... but mine only has a cutting capacity of 160mm.

Strong as an ox sturdy as you like..... go for it.

Hi
I have the BS250 and have had no problems with that at all. I also have the Record CL4 lathe and the Record 8inch grinder and cannot fault with any of their products.
The only time i had a problem with the lathe Record Power did a wonderful quick fix for me.

GO FOR IT

I have the X. To it's credit the E has cast iron wheels v. alloy on the X, although I'm not sure how much difference it really makes on a machine of this size. I think the table is smaller on the E and the guide is different. There may be some other bits but I seem to recall seeing everything in the specs on the Record Power site.

Just remembered--- The wheel set is different too...

Hi Loz,

I have done a lot of research on bandsaws and I've finally decided on a Record BS350S because there is support here and I've seen them running and was very impressed. For the type of work I do the 350S will be more than adequate.

Last week I saw the 300E and it is a fine machine and I was very tempted to buy it but decided to wait for the others to come in this week. I was also very impressed with the 5 year guarantee and a friend with me said the 300E was a better finished machine than the 350 he bought a few years ago (and that has served him very well) and that the fittings were much more robust than on his machine.

The only downside I found with Record bandsaws is the blade they come with but, once replaced it transforms the machine into a great little cutter indeed.

Managed to get out last night and powerup the 350 - Oh MY God !!!

I can fit logs in it ! - big logs !

I watched the Alan H dvd bandsaw masterclass that came with it - then went out to play - thin vineers ( 3 inch oak no less ! ) , bowl blanks, ripping logs into boards. great fun.

no turning done though - need to get more wood now - think i just chopped my whole supply up in a bandsaw frenzy !

Record Power - I love you !

Glad you are happy with it Loz.
It is a good machine for the money :D
Wait till you put a proper blade on it,or have you already :?:

Just the one that came with it for now Paul.

Brilliant machine - well chuffed

Hi Loz.

I've had the 350 for a while now and have been sawing mainly 3 to 6" teak with it with no problems.

The only thing that does niggle a bit is you knock the table it is liable to tilt off true slightly so, I always check that before any session. I suppose that's likely to happen to any BS anyway.

Set up right it does all the things Alan H says it does.

Regards

John

Loz, this recent update has made me very happy indeed and has confirmed my hopes for this saw.
