Cracking piece of work for a youngster. Keep up the good work!!

Your post has been caught by the spam trap - this will go away after a few posts - dont worry. In the mean time folks can see your pics now

Cracking bit of work!

Makes me feel that not all D&T GCSE courses don't lead to any skills. My kids learnt the square root of next to nothing (much to my dispair).

Still have fond memories of my old wood work teacher and still use most of the skills he taught (beat!) into me many years ago. The only CSE grade 1 I managed to achieve.

I am really impressed my friend and I take it we will be seeing a grade 1 pass there mate!

I too would love to know the techniques that you used to get the step carving...can I assume this was done with hand carving, a router or CNC?

Does the whole piece get treated to a finish when done or are you going to the traditional painting method and will it have all the bells and whistles too...like saddle etc?

I trust you know that handmade rocking horses are an arm and leg to buy...you would get a good price for it too or are you keeping it to show your grandchildren?

Well done my friend...you should be justly proud!!!

Jim

Excellent stuff Stevie.....and welcome to the site.

I hope that your photography skills catch up with your woodworking skills one day soon!! I'm sure that horse would look even better if we could see it all!.

I bet you've got a Black and Decker Powerfile somewhere in your armery?

Anyway, keep up the good work, and keep on taking WIP photos.

Mike

Stevie, that is a great bit of work! I like the designed in saddle lip and the
soft curves of a horse galloping.
It is refreshing to see that there are some real skills being nurtured within the schools, especially after the number of time wasters I have encountered in the trade recently.
Do you plan to have a career in woodworking?
atb Rob.

That looks worthy of an A grade, but make sure that your Design folder is up to standard. One of my pupils is building a rocking bi-plane.

Stunning work.

Why is it called resistant materials?

Thanks Tom, I wanted to know thtat but didn't dare ask. Got a new date for your op yet?

Roy.

Couldn't call it something simple like woodwork could they?

Roy.

Which in industry are called metal, plastics and composites. That way we all know what we are talking about. But everything today has to have a fancy name. On Weakest link Ann tears 'Human resources Allocations Manager' or Deputy Sales Manager' to pieces.
Even our local dustmen are now Recycling Operatives, what's wrong with 'Dustman' we'd soon be in a mess, literally, without them.

Roy.

Oh whatever, let's enjoy the lad's nice Resistant Materials piece, hey.

Speaking of which, great work!

Yep, cracking job. Well done mate. Stick around and show us all the finished piece.
