Just like to first thank Stevebuk for the corian, wet & dry & advice.
Also John B for his advise on his pen thread.
So here it is,

CIMG4102.jpg

I was very surprised after seeing the blank, how easily the tools cut the corian, also how the shine built up as i proceeded down the grades of wet & dry.
I don`t have any micro mesh so once down to 1200 grit i went on to a couple of different paint cutting compounds, the finest compound bringing out an incredible shine.
I then gave it 3 coats of carnauba wax & am really chuffed with the results.
Thanks for looking, comments most welcome.

doug, that is one nice and tidy pen. i think you should congratulate yourself   i cant understand why you put carnauba wax on corian. all you need is some car polish. or better still,, ulay cream..

cos it gets rid of the little wrinkles. doesntit steve.

you'd better try some then colin

hi doug
brilliant mate, pleased you did it. Do a few more then we will take you to acrylic, different ball game altogether, but great fun.
give us a shout if you need anymore, i still have a bit left yet, but no pen kits..

Thanks Greggy,
I`m a bit young to be needing u`lay

Cheers Steve,
I hope to do a few more this weekend, i`ll post the results.

I`ve managed to buy an axe today. so i`m now in a better position to re-design trunks into bowl blanks  :D

I think it's a super job =D> =D> =D> =D>
Now you have to work on your lighting  The top is a little overexposed so we have lost the detail. Back in 'Picasa',
if after youv'e done the basics, go to the next section, 'Tuning' and bring up the shadows and it will bring back some detail.

Jenx.
Thanks for your kind comment.

Once again i`m indebted to you for your advice, I`m afraid i`ve never had any interest in photography, only using the camera to put pics on the forum. I don`t even own the camera i use  so when i use it, it is pre-set to do what it needs to. I would not dare mess with the settings  .
I`ve followed your advice re picasa, & was startled at the difference i could make in the quality of the photo.
Here is my effort at re-jigging, be kind it is my first go

Though the corian is quite plain, there is some faint marbling which does show a little better now, though the surface doesn`t look as smooth as it actually is.
Thanks again, i seem to be learning more as i get older than i ever did before. Problem is as the new info sinks in is the old stuff seeping out???

No, it just gets buried and is more difficult to recall

You've made this a little too dark in the background.
The pens usually look better with a pale background and displayed with, or on something.
See how you do on your next project.
Make one of a darker colour, when you photograph it concentrate on getting the focus spot on.

It is amazing stuff Corian, looks good turned & the pen you turned
looks the business..Bet it feels good to write with..
Have some blanks but not had the nerve to have a go yet..Hope
mine turns out as good as yours when I get round to having a pop at it..
