Why didn't you just ask to cancel the order instead of making a big song and dance about it?
Everybody makes mistakes, and this was a very trivial one.

technically its not a mistake at all as his son deliberately placed an order - its not like it happened accidentally, and shruging ones shoulders and saying oh its only a trivial mistake i'll just inconvenience the seller would hardly set a good expample of acting with consideration for others.

imo noel has done exactly the right thing

If you leave you wallet lying about is it OK for him to help himself to a tenner?
