Well as my wife took my daughter shopping today James my youngest came to the workshop for the day today - He has his own bench and tools but busily got on as he wanted to make a small table for his bedroom.

Having claimed a set of four pre-turned legs from my wood store he set about cutting them to length with his hand mitre saw before morticing them.

and after cutting down a few offcuts of ash on the bandsaw busied himself planing them up

before making the tenons using the bandsaw.

After gluing up and pinning joints so he didn't have to leave it in the clamps he scurried off to the woodstore returning shortly after with an off cut piece of iroko just the right size for the top - this was soom thicknessed, edged and hey presto

James had a table - and mighty proud of it he is too!

As for me - I think I just got in his way as he busied himself - he even cleaned up at the end of the day!

Looks like you will have to buy some more tools now you have an extra pair of hands

Very nice job James =D> =D> =D>

That's a great looking table he has there. You have a talented young lad. I'm very impressed.

Well done that Man- move over Ben Huggins ! =D>
This should be copied into the 'Projects' section too-a very well proportioned piece James.

Well done James, hope your dad didn't get in the way! =D> =D> =D>

Roger your Apprentice isn't getting pretty good, he is very good.

Too true I am! - I have been trying to teach him over the last year or so and he has been picking it up very well.

Splendid stuff. Well done young fella. As for Dad, well he has obviously taught you to a high standard.

Dodge, watch it he'll be ousting you from the business before long.

Wow! Very impressive!

He is very lucky to have a dad to teach him this stuff so well, and to use ear protection too!

Hope he doesn't go and paint the whole thing orange or cover it in stickers.

he even cleaned up at the end of the day!

Sod the table, (brilliant job BTW), how did you get him to clean up? My son's in his 30s and still thinks that job's done by the fairies!
