I thought the exact same thing DW when mine came through.

A tenner off? A tenner?

its still money off so whats the problem - dont buy it (whatever it is) if you werent going to anyway - and if you were you've saved a ten spot

at the end of the day times are tight and they are a business not a charity - what did you expect 50% xmas special (closely followed by a "business closing due to insolvency" sale in the new year )

Axminster sent me an email for Xmas, £10 off £200.

Wow.

You could always ask for a poke in the eye with a sharp stick instead!!!

If I happened to be spending £200 then I'd happily take £10 off, obviously I'd prefer more but £10 is better than a kick in the teeth.

That's the odd thing about it though don't you think?

Isn't the sales and marketing idea behind promotional schemes such as this normally to encourage you to spend money now that you weren't otherwise likely to spend, and/or to spend it now with them rather than with a competitor ?

Can't say that ten quid off two hundred would register either way for me, but maybe that's just me.

Perhaps it's just a small loyalty bonus to regular customers, but in that event it doesn't really hit the mark either having to spend £200 to qualify for it.

I agree, if you were going to spend the money anyway then you're better off, but how does that benefit Axi' ?

Confused and ineffectual marketing strategy is all it says to me, much as I like doing business with Axi'.

Cheers, Paul :D

I know what you are saying paul , but i guess the thing is that many folk dont have my self control and will spend 190 notes they wouldnt otherwise have spent.

plus as its the run up to xmas a lot of people will be stocking up on bits and bobs to play with in the holidays and while a tenner might not be enough to persuade someone to spend 190 notes they wouldnt otherwise have spent, it might get people who were otherwise going to do 200 boys with rutlands, or yandles or wherever to do 190 with axi instead

I got the email and briefly got excitied thinking it was £10 off each £200, and i'm considering spending around a grand soon. But no, just a tenner.

And not even a tenner off £200, but only if you buy one of their 'top 25' power tools. Bah humbug! :D

Mind you a tenner's a tenner if you were planning on buying one of these anyway...

HEY! That would pay for my petrol to get from me to Sittingbourne about 5 times so that is just another nail in my coffin of a spend-fest.....

I am going over there tomorrow...I may be a while!!!

:D :D :D :D
