Mortise chisel?

Made by ward, but odd looking profile and groove on the back
Not sure how handles were attached-if they had one?

It's not a chisel. That's a plane blade. One of a set of about 8 to fit in a wooden body.

it's for an old wooden plough plane as sammy said part of a set of blades.
