Yes, and it was none other than Patrick Leach--of the Blood & Gore web iste fame--who was the winning bidder. He also buys and sells [and collects] old tools. Probably knows what he bought.

I on the other hand, bought a Miller plough reproduction kit from Paul Hamler--one amazing craftsman. Saved a little cash in the process.

Some people use tools

Some just collect them...

Which one are you Tony?

Well, if i don't use a tool for 2 years, then i sell it or give it away.

So a collector

Don't know him, I read the web site but I still say he needs his brains tested. #-o

Yeah, it is difficult for me to justify high-cost collecting of any kind of widget--but even high-cost varies to the person. But that's at the personal level. I do understand collecting for more or less altruistic reasons or for collection for display to a larger audience.

I suspect if it is not for his own collection per se, it'll be an investment which gets sold for more than it cost him. Tis what he does every month via his for sale lists--of which I am often enough a customer.

Take care, Mike

Off-hand, I don't know which model that one is, but in Blanchard's book Miller's Patent planes have fetched upwards of $25K...

Not a user, I would say  :-k  :D
