Occasionally when I am able to take my saw with me to a craft fair, I get there only to find I have no access to electricity. Does anyone have any suggestions on a portable power source that would work on a fret saw.

any cheap generator will do the job, a fret saw doesn't pull much power

just make sure the generator is very quiet ( i have a honda and its almost silent)

purchase a inverter which will transform 12 volts to 240 ac
you can buy them in various sizes depending on the wattage you require.hope this helps.

Or for an added attraction - check out the Hobbies pedal-powered saw on ebay - I was tempted!

I've seen those treadle saws at fairs once or twice and I think they make a grand crowd-puller, especially if you have someone else to help sell the product while you get on with demonstrating the old machine.
