Out of interest, have you tried a 'hard' reset of the iPhone?
I hadn't, but I have now. Unfortunately it didn't help. Many thanks for the suggestion.
A hard reset will often sort out software-related glitches. Is your volume issue phone.app related, or just generally quiet i.e. is it acceptable if you play e.g. music through the speaker, or is it different if you take a hands-free call?

I have never tried to play music with it. Will try at lunch time.

It's generally quiet. The ring is quiet, the incoming call volume is quiet.

It's passable if you are in a quiet environment, but that isn't often, in the noisy world we live in.

Thanks Artie, your topic is well timed, and could have possibly saved me from purchasing the wrong phone.

I have just purchased a new Peugeot car which has Bluetooth telephone facility built in.

My mobile phone does not have Bluetooth facility, so I was going to purchase a new phone that did. It would have been as cheap a make/model as I could find, but it looks as if I need to contact Peugeot to find out which phones are compatible with their cars. :?

You can bet your life it will be expensive makes.

Take care.

Not always. My old nokia 5210 worked fine until it expired.

But yes ask Peugeot first and I hope they are more help than Henry.

Many thanks for the Peugeot site link, unfortunately my car version is not listed.

I think the best thing is to call and see the Dealer, as they are most helpful.

They could probably source a suitable phone through Peugeot, plus install it for me.

If it were not for Artie, starting this topic, I would have blindly purchased a phone in ignorance and taken it to the dealer to install. I suspect only to be told, sorry it is not compatible, unless I was very lucky.

So thanks again to Artie.

Take care.

.

It's one of those coincidences someone was talking about on another thread. :)

But installing phones is a thing of the past, with bluetooth and the right radio. it never needs to come out of your pocket when in the car.

Anyways I hope you have better luck than me.

Yup, I hired a Skoda Yeti over Easter and once I switched Bluetooth on on my phone, with discovery enabled, the car and phone paired, I entered the PIN that the car gave me and thereafter it just worked. Each time I got it, it acknowledge the re-pairing and all was well.

Trawled through the car handbook. Found the compatible products for connection are (Apple), as I suspected, the expensive end of the market.

So I think I will stick with my old existing phone, and forget about any fancy connections to the cars Bluetooth system, it would also need a compatible USB cable to make the connection, and I cannot stand loose cables hanging around.

Actually ended up with a s3 mini and one of those items above.

Working very well and if you just want hands free then no trailing wires.
