You're right too, to mention the metal-working section - as I originally found this site via Google, which brought me straight to the woodworking section, so I [wrongly] assumed this site was for woodworking only. This is the first time I've heard this! .......also, knowing this, I'd nevertheless be apprehensive/concerned about going there for a 2nd opinion, if I've been advised by the guys in the woodworking section, and then appearing overly doubtful of their advice by going elsewhere - especially if they were to also see or notice my post. I don't want to put anyone's nose out of joint.

RWoody most of the members that post in the metalwork section also post in the other forums so asking them for a second opinion as you call it will be no problem at all and certainly will not put anyone nose out of joint. The whole reason behind these boards are to help each other so no one is going to have a problem with your questions.
