I have a workbench with no holes, then I have MFT type tops that sit on my bench that I can easily lift and put a fixing in from below to hold a dog secure or to move the top out the way for a cleanup. Once you own a method for making the tops then you are not constrained and also get these from Axminster if using the Parf system

As they allow you to add holes if you have not fully perforated your MFT.
There is a new MFT jig coming to market at some point from @petermillard that should be interesting as it is router based and not drilling.
