Meths...?

I have some French polishing coming up so I'm looking at stocking up on supplies, but which meths is best, the purple stuff or the clear stuff? I've only used purple stuff and I'm after something to blame for poor results

Also I'm aware that I won't ask for 'clear' or 'purple' meths on the blower but it's easy to know which is which...

There's no doubt the clear is better as the purple contains more water and can look slightly different when applied to light timbers. However I don't think the meths (clear or purple) can be blamed for your poor results!

Thanks Woodfinish Man, I was only joking about the poor results though... Well, blaming the meths at least

Anyway I hope to get my bedroom furnished good and proper and I definately want it french polished, in fact I'm planning a visit to yours when the time comes... Do you sell the clear stuff at all?

We do indeed sell the clear meths.
