although i have a very small lathe its time for me to look for something slightly larger
if you know of anyone who might be selling a metal turning lathe then please PM me
no ebay links please

don't know if i'm in the right section here

What do you call small and slightly larger?

Mine will swing 8" but will not be big enough for a future project that I have in mind! though I won't be changing it just yet.

hi jason
the lathe i have is an early drummond

http://www.lathes.co.uk/drummond/page3.html

3.5" centre height
and a usable bed of approx 12"
it has seen some action and is not as accurate as i would have liked it

so im looking for a myford or even a colchester
possibly with a hollow spindle in the head stock

maybe something thats a bit more up to date which you can still get spares and add ons for
instead of haveing to have everything made for it

Clear proof that Mel cheats at Name that Machine, I think .
You'll be implying that we know each other next..... Personally I reckon he's one of PsiCorps

mel, will check with some engineering friends locally, but consider also a boxford, and check your local edumacaters who may well be disposing of same since schools no longer like metalwork either.

what size swing do you need, and o/l, a myford ml7 is not that big in terms of what it can do, but because of the name is more expensive, so consider others.

paul
