I see quite a few of our Forum members are pictured/featured in the latest British Woodworking but has Newt got another pseudonym?

Rod :)

Sorry about that, Newt! Great scratchstock, though!

Hope you enjoy the mag.

Nick

Well done Newt, Chas, Shultzy, Steve (as ever) and of course Nick. Another great issue. I picked up Woodworker at the same time and couldn't get halfway through, I was bored!

Nick you didn't put that table in for me! ;) N'mind, it's ingrained on my mind. :D

I noticed Wood School was sadly missing again. But you're looking for an "Apprentice"... Does this suggest Simon is unable to continue working for the magazine? I think the idea is great for someone local who doesn't already have a workshop. I wonder if there's anyone on this site who'd be interested?

I always thought a Norfolk latch was known as a Suffolk latch...? Maybe I'm looking at this in a strange way  but, it appears to me that the SketchUp drawing has the latch in the opposite way to the one on the door in the small photo to the right of it? Sorry, it has confused me a bit. :? :)

When I read that James Mursell was leaving Good Wood, I did wonder, you know, where he might be going next! :)

Well done to everyone involved, this magazine keeps getting better! :D

Hi All

I'm sure Wood School will happen again, soon. Just a bit of a hiatus. Simon has been doing other things. Actually we're not really looking for an apprentice, but someone already well skilled who wants to run a furniture business from our workshops.

Sorry about the table, Wizer. I did discover that it was made by James Verner, and had actually featured in the previous issue of the mag. That's probably why I forgot to get in touch. Many apologies. Look him up on the internet. He does great stuff.

Nick

Nick,

"someone skilled who wants to run a furniture business from (y)our workshops"??!!

You are kidding, aren't you? There'll be the most godawful stampede........and I'll be in that stampede if your workshops are anywhere near me.

I should read a magazine now and again, shouldn't I?

Mike

Nick thanks for that, I may just have become his newest groupie.

When I read that article about the workshop I allowed myself to drift off in a romantic vision of me, the missus and the nipper upsticks and moving to this new wonderful life of making beautiful furniture in the countryside. Then I woke up and realised I have no experience and spend most of the day horizontal!! Ho Hum, someone's going to bag themselve a fantastic opportunity. ;)

EDIT: This is the table I saw and fell in love with at Cheltenham this year:

Nice link Olly....thanks.

There is some brilliant furniture there.....some really elegant chairs (Midas) caught my eye (as did the use of "Automobile paint"!!) and the Lamella table that Tom has in his post. Hate the beds though!!
