It is a case of one is just never enough! Do you think I have some sort of fetish? I just can't help it and collect them. Must be my age I guess.

I have to say I'm happy I've seen this thread as up until 20 secs ago I thought I had a 'collectors problem' with routers. I don't feel so bad now - I've only got 5

I have heard that owners start to look like their routers, but I don't put much credence on it myself:
Yes you are correct Sawdust Producer it is the Freud one that has this facility, a good router I may add. As for my favourite it has to be the big De Walt 625E very heavy for handheld but worth putting up with. As for age Paul J, My little elu 96 (the one just left of centre in the pic) is around 15 years old now and still going strong after a set of bearings. Next was the Power Pro one at the back, not one of my best buys but times were hard back then. :) This was replaced in the table with the Hitachi in the background. (Wonderful machine and it gives the De Walt a run for it's money too, it handles everything I can throw at it) That one was an E-bay buy too! I then bought the other Elu after the old one started to play up to repace it too but ended up repairing the first one. I then bought the Trend T5 which I am not so impressed with much more cheaply made IMHO. Slide is not as slick as the others but it does the job of dovetailing where I can leave it set with the cutter in ready to go. The Freud was my next purchase when they were on offer at Screwfix, (Well just couldn't resist that offer could I?) My last purchase was the small De Walt which is a good replacement for the Elu 96 as it is much better made and very slick in operation. This also was another E-bay purchase and had been hardly used. I do wish I had some breeding pairs Russel but alas no! I have found them more difficult to breed than Pandas even after pairing them up together in their dust free homes. :) Just in case you were wondering I do use most of them too as you should see the workshop when I am in full swing! I normally have a router set up with each cutter I need for the job in hand to speed up the process. (Saves time changing cutters as I use a variety of them) I would like to say this is it now but i just know there will be another job come along where I could just do with one more router. Still I guess it will make me a mine of information in the end just like our very own Scrit. :D Hey Charley!, dont' feel worried that you are becoming a collector after all the router is one of the most useful tools in the workshop.

Hi Mailee

Thanks for posting this as it makes me feel a lot better as I has 7 or is it 8 and I just got a Elu 97e from Ebay for £46 ( same as the DW621 )

There was me thinking it was just me that had a problem   :-$

Ps That is not counting the the two that have stopped working

Bloody hell!

The Imeda Marcos of routers
No wonder you needed that damn great shed.

Mailee, you are a seriously sick man

I think you ought to take treatment and reduce this complulsion you have.
To help you out, I'll impound the big yellow one on the right.

Hi Neil, No I do not have the De Walt 621 as I am not impressed with that one due to the 'Idiot switch' That is one of the reasons I changed the Power Pro in the table too as I had to cable tie the switch in for it to work. Now I only buy the Routers that have the old fashioned off/on switch. I tried using it by hand and it was so much trouble keeping it held down while moving the router I gave up on it and bought the Hitachi instead. I have to admit I do like the idea of the dust extraction on the 621 though as it is always an after thought on most routers. Well Colin I am glad to say I am not alone in having such a large family then. :D

Mailee

I am glad to help  :D

I would give the DW621 another look as it the switch does lock but it takes a little getting used too and when/if you do, you will like it as I do.

Are you going to Nick's Bash, if you are I will bring my Elu which is the same :?:

Ooh ! You promised you wouldn't mention that, you knew I was jealous when you got it.

Well Dom

I did leave it a while before posting about and hopping you might forget
Well it shows your memory is better than mine

Take away my big yellow one Lurker! As has once been stated by someone more famous than I: 'You will have to take it from my cold dead hands' Strangely enough my wife has the same thoughts as you in that I am sick :? That damn great shed does seem a lot smaller now I have to admit and I may have to extend it next year. As for Imelda Marcos I married her I can tell you. I am afraid I am not going to Nick's bash but should be at Steve's if we can find accomodation. I didn't realise that the trigger locked on on the 621 and may think again on this one in the future. (Don't tell Lurker though)

Mailee

The way to lock the switch on the DW621 is to.
First pull the switch and then push the top part down and forward so that it locks.

I hope that is clear
