'fraid my recent experience chimes with Digit's - routine operation for Dupuytrens contracture in right hand, got to the hospital to find they had no record of me being due in, but did then decide to operate. Back in the ward, was told I was someone else (!) who was due for an operation the next day. Told by the surgeon not to bother with physiotherapy, told by others physiotherapy is essential. And so on.
Just think what they will be able to do when all our records are on a national database :(

I had a super heart operation over two years ago, the women again keep their distance and lock up their daughters when I'm around.

No complaints at all down here in Torbay.

thanks for the welcome and I do see some of these things happening maybe not to the degree experienced though.Reasons- I don't want to start rambling again and spoil a relationship. Maybe if all managers had to use woodworking methodologies of better planning, measuring twice and innovation & resource use etc. we could get more done.

In view of your last comment Dan I'll remove you from my next comment. In my experience most pen pushers working for the goverment, including our totally use ministers, work in government 'cos they can't cut it in private industry!
Remember, it was Abe Lincoln who recommended government office for those who failed at everything else, as he had!

fair enough mate, maybe we have it better in N.Ireland but I also know quite a few private industries large & small that are pretty poorly run. These guys also get salaries much better than the NHS. Not that showing poor performance elsewhere is positive way of improving things in the NHS.

Anyway we know that things are in constant need of improvement no matter how well we think they are and if people don't voice their concerns and complaints things will change more slowly.

.... and usually big golden handshakes when they finally get booted out for incompetence

Yes, I'm afraid that doesn't tend to go down too well Dick.
But then, the whole of this government is like that, if you want to get ahead, fail, GB isn't going to promote anyone brighter than himself.
I've seen the same thing time and again in industry.
