If I had to build this knowing it would have to be taken apart later,
I would run a 12 x 18 mm rebate along 2 short and 1 long edge on both side pieces, then fit the top and bottom into this rebate and screw down from the top and bottom into the sides so your screws will be vertical when installed. Do the same for the back panel, best way is to screw it to keep the unit nice and square.
Put another top on it over hanging 20mm each way and bobs yer uncle.
about 2 hours work.

Nice! It took me a while to understand that but I got it. What EXACT screws and inserts would you use for this? I need a list for when I buy them.

Bob is most certaintly NOT my uncle. I wish Bob was my uncle.

I would use dowels I built this useing Dowels https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/view ... hp?t=26944 realy strong and easy

Great work there John. I tried connecting two pieces of MDF today with KD blocks and most of them split. Just a tester to see how they hold up - not very well. I was going to use dowels but I can imagine them been quite figety and also they require glueing. Nice work there!

4 x 50 countersunk screws is what I would use, and 4 x 35 for the back, assuming its a 12mm back.
Just need a router to run the rebates round.

Everything will be 18mm to save me having to buy extra sheets. So it'll be an 18mm back. Do I need inserts for the screws?

Yep, so you have, well done you.

It's funny how smug people become when tucked safely behind the anonymity of their keyboard isn't it?

Thanks for your rich contribution to the knowledge of the forum, you are a godsend.

Hawkeye,

Many thanks for gracing our forum with your charm, wit and erudition. I would hate to think what kind of response you would get if you were an ignorant clod who just pretended to be a self satisfied little sh*t.

You have had more then enough advice. What have you got to contribute.

regards
Alan

OD: He basically called everyone who tried to help him a bunch of useless ******. Then when people objected, he said he wasn't going to rise to it (feed the trolls).

Come on Mods - can we have this silly person banned please.

Cheers

LOL, you are an incredible piece of work, and that is in no way a compliment.

At 11 o'clock one night, no doubt after a couple of cans of special brew, you get all upset because you're not getting the full technical drawings you seem to be asking for and call everyone on here ******* useless (as below)

Then when people take offence at your turn of phrase you plead victimisation.

dowels are easy with a jig I used a joint genie

All the confusion about the cabinet size would be avoided if we all stuck to SI units of Meters and Millimeters and left out the stupid Centimeter. It was Blue Peter that started the cm off along with "sandpaper" which is used at the bottom of budgerigar gages.
