In Holland they are also implementing the no smoking in public places etc pubs bars cafes .............
Ok now we all know what Amsterdam is famous for with it's hash cafes and so on, well i think this one tops even Mr Browns attempts
You are not allowed to smoke a normal cigarette in a cafe or bar "but" a joint made from pure cannabis is fine
They are even going to be checking on this can you imagine being brought up before a judge ..............sorry your honour next time i will make sure it's a joint i'm smoking :?

Just made me laugh those crazy dutch lol

Well Gates, I work in a psychiatric hospital where smoking anywhere is outlawed, that is, unless you are a "client" (not allowed to call them patients anymore) so where's the fairness there? if you are sensible and work for a living you are not allowed to enjoy a "***" but if you are otherwise, you are, clever eh?

regards, Rich.

Hey Rich i'm with you

Smoker here as well just thought it was nice to see we are not the only place with daft rules and regs

As far as the smoking ban here find it amazing that the people that want fresh air send us outside into the fresh air to smoke !!!!!!!!!!!!

Martin

The Daily Express 'tother day suggested that if GB were to hold a single candidate election as in Zim, he would lose!

Roy.

Martin, the "clients" have even had smoking shelters built for them in their ward courtyards, we, have to stand outside the hospital entrance despite the weather, :?

Serves you right Rich, filthy habit!
(Have you noticed how we EX smokers become evangelical?)

I sincerely hope that you are kept as many miles away from the clients that are being cared for as possible - an attitude like that doesn't belong in taxpayer-sponsored public sector care.

Nope - I used to work in a similar sector, and I knew people who expressed that kind of resentful, selfish attitude, and who clearly despised and thought themselves above the people they were there to look after. They didn't belong there then, they don't now, and I resent my tax bill paying for people who express that kind of attitude - the harm they do is inestimable in my experience, even the ones who are just sullen about it all rather than doing anyhting more actively 'uncaring'.

That's a pretty broad judgement of somebody you've never met isn't it?

Roy.

Based on what he said above, and plenty else - maybe he'll retract it, he never has before. I know you share some views with him and like to defend him - that doesn't mean I have to, and I'm not going to apologise for that, Roy.

Jake, I am there to look after the fabric and structure of the buildings and plant etc, I am employed by a private company and have no connexion with the clients whatsoever, I do not resent the clients having their cigarettes at all, good luck to them, the majority of them are alcoholics and manic depressives.
For my own part, I too am under pressure in the present economic climate and find that a couple of **** a day OUTSIDE of the hospital relieves the stress,as for non caring, I go above and beyond my role as a maintenance engineer and actually go onto the wards and talk to some of the loners and saddened people and go and get their newspapers and take them cakes and sweets etc, for you see it could easily be me in their place and I only to readily know that, never judge a book by it's cover, the fact that there are two rules for two groups of smokers is a different matter entirely.
Rich.

How is it that stating some folk in a workplace are allowed to smoke but some are not makes you `uncaring` ??? abit OTT mebs?
A friend of mine who works in the psychiatric field once told me you wouldn`t last 5 mins in that job unless you were`nt dedicated. :?

Good.

I also share views with you but I am nowhere near as judgemental of other people as you seem to be. There is room in this world for those might hold different views to your own and mine also.
Judge not that thou fearest not the day of judgement!
I would also point out that as an agent of the judiciary you are supposed to support the right to freedom of speech! That applies whether or no you agree with what is said!

Roy.
