Being a newbie you could even ask about sharpening. Go on, ask whether a convex bevel is a good thing, I dare you.

Coat.......

Since our brother Marvin has explained his actions adequately, I hardly think it is appropriate to encourage sharp practice!

Can you borrow your coat NW?

Just to re-assure those of you buying or thinking of buying some of Marvin's tools the Veritas Shoulder Plane I bought turned up in the post this morning. It's in immaculate condition.

So for those of you thinking about acquiring some of Marvin's tools I would say go for it. Wish I had more funds available :)

Fingers crossed Marvin knows how to package tools for the post. I just received a Stanley No. 71 plane from an ebay seller. Regrettably, the lady who sent it didn't have much of a brain. She left the depth stop firmly fixed in and standing well up from the plane, then simply put the box into a standard padded envelope. Whilst in transit, it must have been crushed, resulting in the whole depth stop housing snapping off of the plane body. Ruined. And it was a mint condition plane, never having been used. Gaaaahhh! Very frustrating.

Just a quick update: Marvin's Lie Nielsen carcass saw and block plane turned up at my house today. All packed very well and in tip-top condition. Many thanks Marvin.

As an aside, I tried out the carcass saw. What a revelation! I've been struggling for years with a S&J B23 universal cut tenon saw. But this Lie Nielsen is like a hot knife through butter in comparison. Now I know what all the fuss is about. I'm a very happy camper :)

Makes a change from car boot dealers using big, thick markers pens on unvarnished wooden tools.

That's never coming out

Just want to say my goods from Marvin arrived today. They were very well packed and even better than I'd dared hope. Communication was top notch throughout. I ony regret I was too slow to get the plough plane.

Thanks Marvin!
