Marking youre work?

Hello all,
I am starting to get through quite a few projects this year. I would like to do something to identify me as the maker. Maybe a small plate or a stamp or something. How do the pros on here do it (if at all)? Can anyone suggest somewhere that I could purchase something to do the job? I've done some googling but not found what I want.

I was told by an older collegue to always sign your name and date into the wood in an out of the way place, as plates can be removed.

I've looked through my email but can't find a price. Ovidiu (who runs it) creates a custom web page with your quote. When I click the link now, its gone - I guess he removes them after a certain time. Sorry, my brain isn't much use either. All I recollect it they aren't cheap, but for a small amount extra you can double or triple the number you buy, and so if you can afford it, its much more economic to increase the quantity.

Hi Brad, Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the info. I checked out the site, the most basic/smallest iron they have is 6mm high letters - no logo's or anything. It is £388.00. I'm afraid that seems a little bit expensive to me. I will keep looking for a more cost effective solution.

When I worked in the trade some years ago now, the makers mark was a very simple metal punch (same sort of thing that a person would mark his name with on the end of a wooden plane). Another alternative would be to buy a very small, very narrow carving gouge and then carve your initials or logo onto the piece - this is how Krenov signs his work - Rob

I never got as far as seeing the prices! It does seem a lot for a glorified soldering iron.

I'll do more research before trying to be helpful in future!

Why not use a Dremel, or similar, to sign your name & date on a suitably shaped piece of brass. Or use it to "carve" directly into the wood - might need some practice though.
