Maplin Drill

With the disappearance of Maplin, I can no longer ask for their assistance. I have a Maplin 18 volt drill, battery and drill battery connection but have misplaced the power supply. Can some one please advise as to how I can press some other device into service as the power source.

Is it a rechargeable battery?
If so, you need to know if it's NiCad, NiMh or Lithium.
Once you have that information, people may be able to give you further advice.

Ok. So the part you've is the power supply that plugs into the charger base. It is likely, but not certain, that the smart electronics that handle the charging cycle are in the charging base that you have, and the lost part is a fairly dumb power supply. However, unless you can find someone with a similar drill to ask, or unless you can disassemble the charging base unit, it's hard to be sure.
One thing you can be sure of, is don't take any chances with Lithium batteries. Is there any writing near the power socket that indicates what voltage it expects?

To echo that: mis-charged lithium ion batteries can be dangerous (risk of fire or worse).

I don't get out much, but I have never seen a lithium ion system with a charger adapter (to the battery itseldf) and a separate mains adapter. It's more surprising because an 18V system will need probably around 20V-24V internally to work. "Pregnant power cord" supplies (black boxes) are usually in standard voltages, e.g. 12V for general purposes and 19V for laptop chargers. These are too low for an 18V charger. It's much more likely that all the electronics are in the same place (the battery adapter), because that keeps cost down in manufacturing.

Can you post pictures of the charger unit you still have, especially the data panel? It would help us advise. Also, do you have the instructions it came with?

It's not simply a mains power cable that you're missing, by any chance, I mean for the charger?
