I am after some thoughts and advice for a finish to use on This
I am thinking that boiled linseed oil would be nice for the maple, but I am not sure what it would look like with the mahogony. I want to stop the maple going yellow.

Any thoughts?

Don't use oil-it will make the Maple go yellow FAST!
How about blond shellac? Won't yellow the maple but still gives the mahogany a nice finish? If you're worried about spilling booze on it the only real alternative is lacquer.
Hope this helps

I am not a finishing expert, but here are my thoughts.

BLO will take quite a long time to cure, I use finishing oil which dries quicker.
The only thing I have made from maple are toysand I was not worried about yellowing. To stop the UV changing the wood colour you need a finish with a UV blocker in it, I understand that water base varnish is the best choice for this but have not used any (yet).
