I bought a 110v sander by accident, I didn't read the details carefully. I decided to buy a transformer - £55 at the time - rather than send the sander back, it worked out at about the same price the 230v sander woud have been. A couple of months afterwards I bought a huge Hitachi mitre saw cheap because it was 110v - I didn't realise it had a transformer with it - and festool jigsaw cheap because it was 110v. 110v extension leads come up regularly on FB MP, Gumtree and at car boots, I have too many, and I cut one up to hard wire fixed outlets in my workshop and my garage - I don't move the transformers.
Many knowledgeable people reckon 110v stuff is more reliable than 230v.
