I've got a Makita RT070 and a Katsu, fixed base only for both. Decided to get a plunge base and thought I'd go for the Makita. Both routers look pretty much the same but thought I'd check if anyone knew if there is any compatibility issues with the Katsu and the Makita base.
thanks

Don't have personal experience but I don't see why it shouldn't work. There have been several reports of the opposite being done, i.e. Makita trimmer in Katsu base.

Although not available from Aimtools at the moment the plunge base fits the Makita tool

It's a nicely weighted base but the dust extraction is awful, I improved it somewhat by duct taping the open hole across the back of the plastic shroud and then plunging the cutter through the tape to create an opening.

I have these two along with the Makita plunge base. They are fully interchangeble.

The dust control from the plunge base is not great.

I have since added an 8mm collet to both, and begun using 8mm bits rather than 6mm. Too early to draw conclusions, but I expect the 8mm bits to produce a smoother finish as they have 4x the rigidity.

Regards from Perth
